Support the mental and physical wellbeing of young people and their families in Gloucestershire
Rachael’s First Month at YG

Rachael Carrotte has been very busy in her first month at YG.

8 February 2016

I have recently joined the Young Gloucestershire team as a Youth Worker, based at The Link drop-in centre and also delivering youth work at youth clubs around the county.

During my first month’s experience working, I have received a very warm welcome from all staff working for Young Gloucestershire.  The young people I have met have also given a warm welcome and have been very engaging at The Link and also at the youth clubs.

Young Gloucestershire assigned the position to lead a new youth club session at South Cerney, which started at the beginning of January 2016.  I am delighted to report that this session has 10 to 15 young people who are now regularly attending on a weekly basis and engaging well with Young Gloucestershire staff and all activities that we are running.  The smoothie making and Valentine’s card making was thoroughly enjoyed by all the young people at South Cerney.

My experience so far working with Young Gloucestershire is that each day it’s a new experience at The Link and during evening youth clubs, which is rewarding when engaging with different young people through supporting them and providing information, advice, and guidance and in achieving their goals.
