Our chat services were launched during the Covid-19 lockdown and has proved a huge success. We are continuing to offer practical and emotional support virtually and now we have also reintroduce the opportunity for face-to-face meetings.
The Covid-19 Crisis helped us to find new and innovative ways to work together even when we were apart. Our Chat services provide virtual support to young people but as restrictions have eased we realise that for some, you just can't beat a face-to-face meet. So now we offer both!
What are the Chat Services?
We match you up with a youth worker who will give you regular telephone or online calls each week and in some cases there is now a chance to meet face-to-face. Together you can discuss anything you like. Whether that's personal goals and aims that you want to work towards or to talk about how you are feeling that week.
The conversation is driven by you and our youth workers are here to offer advice, guidance and a friendly ear. Together you may decide to set yourself goals or things to achieve before your next chat. It could be as simple as taking up a new hobby, getting up at a regular time or it might be longer term goals such as completing some online training.
We are here to motivate, inspire and support.
Who's it for?
Because of the way our work is funded we have a couple of different strands of chat support.
- Link Chat offers virtual services for young people aged 16-25.
- Link Chat+ gives the option of face-to-face appointments for 16-25 year olds.
- Cotswold Chat extends our Link Chat virtual service to 11 years up for those who live in the Cotswolds.
- Bounce+ specifically offers support to young people dealing with issues of self-harm and matches you with one of our experienced mental health youth workers. If you feel your self harm has reached a point where you might like to explore counselling, we are also able to offer that in combination with our chat services. Click here for more information.
How can I get involved?
Thanks to our funders.
YG would not be able to offer this service without the support of Gloucestershire County Council and Cotswold District Council
