We have all at some point, been given a helping hand in our careers; a teacher at school who believed in you, someone at a work placement that inspired you or your first boss who took a chance on you.
Young Gloucestershire are looking for professional people who would be willing to commit an hour a week to mentor a young person aged between 16-25 years to share with them your knowledge and experience. Could you give a helping hand to a young person who is trying to take their first step on the career ladder?
YG are looking for professionals from all backgrounds to support deprived young people who need a hand up and not a hand out. Our mentoring programme has been running since 2014 and has supported over 200 young people. At least 75% of these young people have gone on to employment or education as a result of their mentoring experience.
What will be involved?
Commitment is flexible depending on the needs of both the mentor and mentee but on average; volunteers should be prepared to commit to meeting their mentor once a week for a minimum of three months.
Mentors will be given full training before being matched with a mentee. Both mentor and mentee will receive intensive support from YG throughout their journey.
