NCS is the Government backed experience for 15-17 year olds. This once in a life time opportunities helps build  confidence and self belief as well as preparing young people to take their next steps in life.

YG work with schools across the county to make sure as many young people as possible get to access this brilliant adventure. On this page you will find out a bit more information about the programme, its benefits and how you can support your students to take part.

AUTUMN

Delivered over 10 days in the October half term for students in Year 12 & 13. Students must not turn 18 before the last day of the programme.

SUMMER

Delivered over four weeks in the summer holidays for students in Year 11 & 12. Students must be aged 16 or 17 by the 31 August.

 

BECOME A CHAMPION SCHOOL

WE BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF YOUNG PEOPLE TO CHANGE THE WORLD.

Each year NCS award 'Champion' status to schools and colleges across England. The status is given to those institutions who have excelled in promoting the programme and recruiting young people. Schools are celebrated with plaques, certificates, events and prizes.  Gold Award - 30% of the year group sign up to NCS, Silver Award - 25%,  Bronze Award - 20%.

BECOME A CHAMPION - It’s easy!

Identify an NCS champion teacher in school.

Meet with the YG NCS Lead and plan for the year ahead.

Support YG to deliver at least four engagement events in school through the year.

Brief colleagues about the programme.

Share information with parents through school channels.
